What made you take interest in psychiatry? Is it something you always wanted or something to please your parents? A lot of people start as pre med but then switch majors somewhere along the way. do you see yourself doing that somewhere along the line?

My interest in Psychiatry has nothing to do with my parents. Actually, if my career path were up to them, they’d settle with me being a clinical nurse. I’ve always be strangely drawn to Psychology, preferably forensics. My goal is not only to help others overcome their mental troubles, but also gain information on why some people do what they do. In some cases, therapy can not heal a “dysfunctional” mind; medication is sometimes needed. I want to be about to provide that for someone in need. In most states, Psychologist can not prescribe medicine to a patient; hence why I decided I’d need to further my education and become a M.D.

Yes, a lot of freshman who decide on a career path as a M.D are really undecided and later change their mind. I don’t see myself doing that, as I’ve been passionate about this for many years.
